Hi, I'm Clayton

I Design Interfaces That Feel Effortless to Use

Many designers focus on aesthetics. I focus on outcomes. My work reduces support tickets, improves conversions, and turns user friction into business growth.

My Unconventional Path to UX

In my previous roles in eCommerce and digital marketing, I collaborated across the board (engineers, marketers, developers, stakeholders) to shape products that actually serve the people who use them. I don’t just design for users; I design with them in mind, every step of the way.

Outside of work, I’m a musician, a dog parent, and an improv comedy performer.

Improv is more relevant than it may seem.

In improv, the golden rule is to “have each other’s backs.” Every line is a gift. We build scenes by listening, adapting, and saying “yes, and…” That’s exactly how I approach design. When a user shares feedback, I treat it like a scene partner’s line and I build on it. I don’t bulldoze ahead with assumptions; I collaborate, respond, and co-create.

In improv, every line is a gift. In UX, every user insight is too.

Like improv, design is never a solo act. It’s a team sport. A good show takes a whole cast—like how a strong product takes input from product, engineering, users, and business. It’s about give-and-take, knowing when to lead and when to follow.

And improv? It’s messy. Unscripted. Full of ambiguity. But the magic happens in that uncertainty. That’s why I lean into ambiguity in design with curiosity, not fear. Let’s define the problem together. Let’s test the sketchy version. Let’s rewrite the ending if we have to.

In both design and comedy, the goal is the same: make people feel something: seen, heard, understood. And maybe make them smile while we’re at it.
